Alvin Koay

Alvin founded Growth.pro after a career operating at the intersection of search, content, and brand growth in Malaysian and regional markets. The firm is the embodiment of a single observation: AI search is rebuilding how brands are discovered, and most companies are unprepared for it.

He authored the PAVA Framework and The AI Visibility Imperative. He writes monthly on AI visibility, advises CMOs at Malaysian enterprise brands, and speaks at industry events on the structural shift from Google search to AI-mediated discovery.

How we got here

From SEO practice to AEO/GEO firm.

2018–2024 — Eight years inside Google.

The firm began in 2018 as a Penang-based SEO practice and was incorporated in 2020 as Growth SEO & Digital Marketing Agency Sdn Bhd. For close to eight years we built ranking strategies, content systems, and technical SEO infrastructure for Malaysian and regional brands across consumer and B2B categories.

Late 2024 — The shift became unambiguous.

Google AI Overviews were rolling out. ChatGPT and Gemini were taking measurable share of high-intent commercial queries. Brands ranked #1 on Google were not being cited inside the AI answers their buyers were actually using to decide. The SEO playbook still worked — it was just answering a smaller and smaller share of the questions that mattered.

2025 — We rebuilt.

The SEO practice was wound down. The firm was renamed Growth.pro. The team retrained around AEO and GEO. Our proprietary measurement infrastructure was built in-house. The PAVA Framework, AI Citation Enablement, and the AI Visibility Operating System are the products of that rebuild. Eight years inside Google search is not history we hide — it is the reason we engineer AI visibility credibly.

What we believe

Six positions, written deliberately.

  1. Aligned with Google’s spam-policy guidance. Our methodology is built on clarity, accuracy, and demonstrable expertise — the principles Google formally endorsed in its May 2026 generative-search policy update. The rebrand from AI Citation Engineering to AI Citation Enablement reflects which side of the equation we work on: the brand side, not the system side.
  2. AI visibility is a revenue problem, not a marketing trend. The decisions being made in AI answers right now are the consideration sets that produce next quarter's pipeline.
  3. Most agencies have retrofitted AI visibility as a service. We were rebuilt around it.
  4. Citation discipline is a credibility signal. Every claim we make in public carries a source. We expect the same of the brands we work with.
  5. AI Citation Enablement is its own craft — not SEO, not PR, not content marketing. We do not sell it as any of those.
  6. The Malaysian market is large enough to reward specialism and small enough to reward depth. We are horizontal across enterprise consumer and B2B brands, and we are not changing that.
  7. Growth, the word, has been hollowed out by the growth-hacker industry. We are reclaiming it as the only thing it has ever meaningfully described: compounding category dominance, engineered over time.
